Atatürk Interview With İpek Çalışlar
As part of Atatürk Week activities, we sought to understand the Great Leader Atatürk from a different perspective through the book “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, His Struggle and Private Life” written by journalist, author, and researcher İpek Çalışlar. Approaching Atatürk's biography through the social and cultural environment and human resources that shaped his identity, Çalışlar emphasized the importance of re-examining the great leaders who shaped history in each period with a new approach.
Ipek Calislar stated that Atatürk was rarely described from a female perspective, noting that male perspectives dominated Atatürk biographies, including sources, saying, “I began to understand Atatürk while writing about Latife Hanim's life.” The interview presented a reinterpretation of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's childhood, youth, military career, and statesmanship through a female perspective.
