Hafıza Tepesi Rises On The Bosphorus
Inspired by Üç Anadolu Efsanesi, the novel studied by our Grade 10 students, written by Yaşar Kemal, Işık High School students transformed memory into art through their “Hafıza Tepesi” exhibition, following in the footsteps of this influential figure of Turkish literature. Held at the Bosphorus Cultural Center, the exhibition became a powerful meeting point of emotion, thought, and creative effort. The presence of Ayşe Semiha Baban, Yaşar Kemal's wife, made this meaningful occasion even more memorable. The freedom of the horse, the purity of the deer, the conscience of words, the traces of memory… Drawing on the imagery in Yaşar Kemal’s works, our students transformed literature into a three-dimensional memory space, transferring the emotions and symbols of the texts onto canvas, jute fabric, texture, and color. “Hafıza Tepesi” was more than an exhibition; it was an aesthetic bridge connecting the past to the future.
