Işık Schools held its inaugural Literary Lecture Series by hosting world renowned and celebrated author Lois Lowry for a discussion of her life, her books, and her ideas about writing. Ms. Lowry gave a presentation about her life focusing on her childhood which was partly spent in Japan. She then spoke about her marriage and children and her inspiration for writing. She finished by taking questions from students. The speaking event, which was held online, on May 17th 2021,was open to all 9th grade students from all four Işık campuses. We hope to plan more Lecture Series and host many other renowned writers for the upcoming academic year.
