Named in honor of the late Mathematics teacher, who worked at Işık High School between 1958 and 1969 and raised successful students in the field of mathematics, The Dr. Yusuf Ziya Efe Mathematics Outstanding Achievement Award has been given by our graduate Prof. Dr. Turan Turgunoğlu (himself a graduate from the Class of 1963) since 2009 in order to celebrate the memory of Yusuf Ziya Efe and to emphasize the value given by our schools to mathematics. This year’s Outstanding Achievement Awards were given on 25.03.2021.

Rana Yağmur BAYRAM from FMV Private Işık High School, Uras SOMER from FMV Private Ayazağa Işık Science High School, Elif RESİOĞLU from Private Ayazağa High School, Engin Bora İLAN from FMV Private Erenköy Işık Science High School, Abdullah ÇETİN from Işık High School and Muhammet Ferit ERSOY, a student of FMV Private Ispartakul Işık Science High School all competed. FMV Private Ispartakule Işık High School student Abdullah ÇETİN was awarded the first place at the end of the written exam and evaluation administered by our jury, which was formed with mathematics teachers selected from each campus of Işık High Schools.

This competition is an expression of the importance given not only to basic sciences, but also to the mission of our teachers which is first to train good people, and which further aims to train good people in every field of science with its approach of "illuminated curiosity".
