Poetry encapsulates the resonance of its era's sounds: laughter, screams, whistles. It's where marches blend with love songs and the voices of children intertwine with laments. Poetry forms a harmonious choir, an orchestra of diverse voices.

Poets have always placed humanity at the forefront, echoing the mantra "HUMANITY first, always HUMANITY." They've painted imagery of bread, flowers, and truth. Their verses call for the moon's light to reveal rather than conceal the shadows of misdeeds. Poets tread with their conscience clear, illuminating truths amidst the deceit of tumultuous times, identifying what is sacred, what is falsehood, what constitutes plunder and desecration. Yet, their pens never ceased to hope.

World Poetry Day, established by UNESCO in 1999, aims to "foster awareness and inject new vitality into the poetry movements across local, national, and global levels." This initiative celebrates linguistic diversity and the unifying power of poetry. In honor of this day, students from the FMV Işık High School Honor Council shared and recited their chosen poems with the school community, embracing the spirit of poetry.
