Foundation Tree
The self-realized human is a unique creature capable of withstanding the full force of nature by establishing a long-lasting root system that resembles a tree. Through this journey, the individual was able to see the light of solidarity and togetherness and realized the generosity of building foundations for one another. Azra İnci Özkan, a student in our ninth grade, placed third in Istanbul for her composition "Foundation Tree" in the Ministry of National Education's competition centered around the foundation of culture, a crucial component of civilization. "Rootless things always resurface!" is how our student used Tanpınar's words to describe the core of the basis of civilization in her essay.
