“From Utopia to Dystopia”
On Thursday, December 22nd at FMV Işık High School our 10th Grade students will participate in and lead a workshop titled “From Utopia to Dystopia” based on a reading of George Orwell’s novel, 1984. The main goal of the workshop is to illustrate and for students to express the following: “Regardless of the situation and conditions, no matter what regimes people are governed by, thoughts cannot be suppressed and everyone questions and thinks what they want.”
The chosen “utopia” as a metaphor will be discussed in terms of definitions, processes, and its destruction. The topic will be discussed by different disciplines in various workshop groups consisting of 9th and 10th grade students and student groups from our Ayazağa, Erenköy and Ispartakule campuses. Six different topics and lessons by 10th Grade students will be presented. Teachers from different disciplines will lead the workshop groups with the designated students, and the leader will guide the students during their studies and presentations.
