We held the first lesson of the second semester with Prof. Dr. Celal Sengor, İTÜ Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences Faculty Member, on Thursday, February 18th, 2021.

The subject of this lesson was regional metamorphism. Explaining the terms “schistosity” and “gneissite,” he also touched on the morphology on these structures. He discussed the development process of regional metamorphism depending on plate movements. He especially focused on continent-continental collisions and the associated burial metamorphism. Our lesson, which our students watched with great curiosity, ended with a question and answer session.

Our next lesson will be on February 25, 2021. In this lesson, our professor's teachers Prof. Dr. Sırrı Erinç and Prof. Dr. İhsan Ketin’s contributions to Earth Sciences and to their students will be discussed.
