Işık High School Students in Ionia A Journey to the Center of Philosophy
Between November 29 and December 1, FMV Işık High Schools' 11th-grade students were in Ionia—the land where philosophy blossomed—under the guidance of their philosophy teachers.
They explored the life stories and philosophies of the philosophers who lived in the ancient city of Miletus, located within the borders of today's Aydın province, where philosophy was born. As philosophy developed in this city—where the first Milesian philosopher Thales laid its foundations and his students Anaximander and Anaximenes deepened it—the Ephesian philosopher Heraclitus made significant contributions to philosophy.
Through the trip organized under the "Journey to the Center of Philosophy" project, our students embarked on a historical journey, reuniting with the philosophers who pioneered the establishment of philosophy in the lands where it was founded. By exploring the lands they inhabit, Işık students witnessed the worlds of philosophers who lived in Anatolia, interpreting and analyzing their philosophical thoughts.
