10TH GRADE PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION
Congratulations to the 10th grade students who took part in the annual Işık Public Speaking Competition on 20/02/19. The event, a yearly tradition at the school, saw 7 students discuss varying aspects of human rights. Their speeches were followed by questions from a panel of judges made up of teachers from the Foreign Languages department as well as former Işik public speaking champion, Mert Bektaş. First prize was awarded to Derin Selçuk Lin who won the judges over with his speech on the 1948 Geneva Human Rights Convention. Second and third place was given to Zeynep Duru Seçkin and Sude Bektaş whose topics were women's rights and LGBT rights respectively. The audience choice award went to Dağlar Duman for his speech on Terrorism and Mass Surveillance. Derin Selçuk Lin will represent our school in the upcoming Inter-School Istanbul public speaking completion on the 29th of March.
