JMUNDP 2020
The Işık Nişantaşı JMUN club attended the KOÇ Junior Model United Nations Development Program conference (JMUNDP 2020) in Tuzla, from March 7th to March 9th. The theme of the conference was “Implementing Sustainable Development Goals through Global Innovation”. One of the main objectives of the conference is to inform middle school students on topics regarding politics, economy and global issues. The Işık Nişantaşı club represented the Kingdom of Denmark across all of the Development Committees, and discussed current global issues including preserving the human rights of Rohingya in Myanmar, reducing opioid overdose mortality, and promoting sustainable agriculture in regards to SDG 2. The club members wrote resolutions on these issues, lobbied other member states to co-sign their resolutions, and delivered speeches to the general assembly. Club members gained valuable experience, and had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other students from around Turkey.
