TINYMUN2
On December 22, 2018, the Işık Nişantaşı Junior Model United Nations club participated in TINYMUN2, an inter-campus Model United Nations conference involving all four schools of Işık Okulları. This was a great first conference for many of our students, and an excellent way to practice and revise for our experienced Model UN members. Using previous research and communication skills, our students acted as delegates from multiple countries in this simulated United Nations activity. Our students excellently represented Spain, the United Kingdom, Bolivia, Cabo Verde, Ivory Coast and others. They used their English language skills with peers from other Işık branches to engage in a series of rigorous debates on important issues ranging from the rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula to women's access to education in developing countries. Our students debated, questioned, negotiated and presented speeches in front of delegations from middle and high school levels. It was an excellent challenge for our students, but they came out intellectually stimulated. It's certainly an encouraging sign for future MUN conferences that we will attend, and we certainly hope this momentum continues on to help our students become enlightened individuals who contribute to finding solutions to the world's problems.
